Dior Addict IT-LASH Mascara

Earlier this month I blogged about Fenwick Beauty Week and in their generous goody bag I received a sample of the brand new Dior Addict IT-LASH Mascara*.

Now that I've been using it for a few weeks, I thought it was a good time to share my opinion on it.  First up, it's one of those plastic bristled mascara wands with lots of spikes all the way around. This is my favourite kind as I hate having clumpy lashes and find these to be the best at giving lots of definition and separation. Another good thing about this is that the formula of the mascara isn't too wet so you don't add a load of product on to the lashes that is hard to spread out. You just get the right amount of product which again helps with separation.

The wand really helps to coat all of the lashes, even the tiny ones, to give a more volumised look. It also helps with lengthening the lashes. I find this product to be pretty good for daytime wear as it doesn't create an over the top, dramatic look.

The mascara is long lasting, doesn't flake off throughout the day and you can remove it easily at the end of the day with your cleanser without having to rub your delicate eye area too hard.

If you like the look of this mascara, it's available now for £22 (full size). I've also noticed it's available in some pretty funky shades if you fancy something different from the usual black! It's available in black, pink, purple and blue.

My Perfume Collection

Perfume isn't something I've featured a lot on my blog but I fancied mixing things up a little so I'm going to talk you through my perfume collection. You will notice that I like predominantly sweet fragrances so if that's your kind of thing, then perhaps I can recommend some options of what to check out next time you fancy having a spritz-a-thon in your local perfume stockist!

These are all perfumes I received at Christmas or bought in the Boxing Day sales so I tend to have these closest to hand on a daily basis.

Boss Orange for Women (75ml £54.50 Boots link)
I've owned this fragrance a few times now so it's definitely been one of my favourites over the last few years. It's a gorgeous mix of fruity and floral with a hint of vanilla.
Top Notes: Red Apples
Middle Notes: White Flowers, African Orange Flower
Base Notes: Sandalwood, Olive Tree, Vanilla
Ghost Moonlight (30ml £24.50 Boots link)
This was a new fragrance to me as I hadn't ever sprayed this in store or anything. I do really like it though, it's like a musky, sweet scent.
Top Notes: Ginger, Bergamot, Melon
Middle Notes: Pink Peony, Orange Blossom, Lily-Of-the-Valley
Bottom Notes: White Chocolate, Amber, Sandalwood

Ghost (30ml £24.50 Boots link)
I've bought this one for my mother before so I knew it was nice so I was excited to receive it for Christmas last year. The reason I really like it is because I think it smells like Turkish Delight. Yum!
Fragrance Notes: Mellow hibiscus, Rose Petals, Musk,Vanilla, Ambergris, and Apricot

Prada Candy L'Eau (50ml £51 Boots link)
During the Boxing Day sales I always have my sights set on the original Prada Candy fragrance as it's the most amazingly sweet but luxurious scent. During the last sales, they didn't have the original fragrance at a reduced price but they did have the new 'L'Eau' version so I went for that instead. It also has a sweet scent but this one is a bit lighter and more floral so I prefer the original but still enjoy wearing this one.
Top Note: Citruses,
Middle Note: Sweet Pea,
Bottom Note: White Musk, Benzoin

Calvin Klein Down Town (50ml £44.99 Boots link)
This is the first Calvin Klein scent I've owned as I've never been that impressed with the others but this was another one I was hunting down in the sales after discovering it shortly before Christmas. It's such a fresh and pretty fragrance. It just smells really clean and it's perfect for day time wear.
Top notes: Italian cedrat, bergamot, Tunisian neroli, green pear, watery plum
Mid notes: Pink peppercorn, violet leaf, gardenia petals
Base notes: Texan cedarwood, incense, vetiver, velvet musks

Gucci Guilty (50ml £52.50 Boots link)
This scent is quite different for me as it's not fruity, floral or sweet! I did actually choose it myself though as I fancied a change. It's quite a strong, fresh scent and it's quite long wearing too.
Top note: Mandarin, Pink pepper
Middle note: Lilac, geranium, peach
Base: Patchouli, amber

These are the perfumes lurking away in a drawer that I keep forgetting about. When I have my own place (not renting) with more space, I would have all of my perfumes on display so that I don't forget about any but yeah, the old ones tend to get a bit pushed out at the moment!

Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy Le Fleur (40ml £34.50 Boots link)
Ooh I'd forgotten how much I loved this one. Must get it back out again! It's a really nice sweet floral scent that's not too heavy.
Fragrance Notes: Mandarin, wild berries, water lily, honeysuckle, gardenia petals and jasmine.

Dior Addict Eau Delice (30ml pictured. 100ml £72 Boots link)
This was a gift for my birthday last year from my fiance and it's not something I would have chosen for myself. I tend to steer clear of fragrances by Dior as I find them a bit too strong and old fashioned. Apart from Miss Dior that is. However, I do really like this fragrance as even though it is quite a heavy floral fragrance, it does have an element of sweetness to it.
Top notes: Mandarin leaves and mulberry flowers.
Mid notes: Night Queen Flower, Bulgarian rose and orange flower.
Base notes: Bourbon vanilla, sandal wood and Tonka bean.

Ralph Lauren The Big Pony Collection, Number 2 (50ml £41.50 Boots link)
A sweet, floral, fruity fragrance. Not too much more to say apart from I really like it as it's my signature style!
Fragrance notes: Cranberry & Tonka Mousse

YSL Parisienne (50ml pictured. 30ml £46.50 Boots link)
I'm not gonna lie, I practically bought this as soon as I read the name since I'm obsessed with Paris but I do actually love the scent too. It smells like Parma Violets, yummy!
Top note: Cranberry, blackberry
Middle note: Otto rose, violet
Bottom note: Vanilla, musk, cashmeran
SJP NYC (60ml £13.95 Fragrance Direct link)
This is my second bottle of this. I originally loved it because of it's strong strawberry scent so when I saw it going cheap on the Tesco website a while back, I decided to use my ClubCard points to purchase it. I've only used this about once since I bought it though and I think mine might have gone a bit funny as it doesn't smell quite right. I had difficulty finding this one online too so I'm thinking it's probably been discontinued.
Top notes: Italian Mandarin, Strawberry and Osmanthus.
Middle notes: Rose, Mimose, Honeysuckle and Gardenia.
Base notes: Rum, Sandalwood, Vanilla and Musk.
Ralph by Ralph Lauren (30ml £15.99 Boots link)
This is quite a light fruity, fresh scent that is quite uplifting. It's a nice subtle one.
Fragrance notes: Green apple leaves, zesty orange mandarin, charismatic pink magnolia, seductive purple freesia and soft blue musk.
Hope you've enjoyed seeing what perfumes are in my collection.

If you haven't heard of Escentual before, it's an amazing online shop where you can buy French pharmacy brands like La Roche-Posay, Vichy, etc plus lots of high end brands like Dior, YSL and Clarins. They sell a wide range of products including skincare, haircare, makeup, bodycare, sun protection and more.

I just wanted to let you know about a great offer they have on at the minute where you can get 25% off everything using the code ESCENTUAL25. This offer ends at 11:59pm on Monday 26th May so you need to be quick if you want to take advantage of this offer.

I recommend pretty much anything from La Roche-Posay! I love everything I've tried from them, especially their Effaclar Duo+ and the Physiological Soothing Toner. There is a big range of other brands and products too though so there is something for everyone! I've certainly got my eye on the products pictured above!

My Favourite Cleansers // Dehydrated and blemished skin

As a sufferer of hormonal breakouts for over 10 years, it took me a long time to find cleansers that were suitable for my skin. I always used to think I had oily skin and chose the harsh teenage spot clearing, foaming face washes from Boots or Superdrug. These used to make my face feel so tight and dry but I thought that was just a part of trying to get rid of the spots.

Over the last few years, in addition to realising that I have quite dry and dehydrated skin rather than oily, I've discovered hot cloth cleansers, cleansing balms and butters. Back in the day, I would have assumed they would be too rich for my skin and cause even more spots. I came to realise they are exactly what my skin needs though! I thought I'd share my favourite ones with you today and they range in price so there should be something for everyone but the thing that is common with all of these products is that they cleanse my skin perfectly without stripping the moisture or causing more spots. Perfect! Want to know more?

SAVE - The Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter (£12 The Body Shop link, usually available on a 40% off deal though)

This repurchased gem was a really good find! It may look like a tub of lard but it's the most amazing soft butter that melts into an oil when you spread it across your face. It feels luxurious on the skin, almost like a treatment, so it seems like it's worth more than its £12 price tag. This leaves my skin feeling hydrated and clean. It's even great for around the eye area as it doesn't sting at all.

SPEND - REN Rosa Centifolia Hot Cloth Cleanser (£16 REN link)

When this launched earlier this year, I actually assumed this would be more expensive than £16 as REN tends to be quite pricey. Obviously, £16 still isn't cheap but it's definitely a lot more reasonable than other high end cleansers. The thing I love most about this cleanser is the beautiful rose scent. It makes it such a pleasure to use this product. The texture of this cleanser is like a thick lotion and it feels quite soothing on application. This also leaves my skin feeling moisturised and clean. I do find this sometimes stings my eyes a little though, however this doesn't happen every time. Weird! I love this enough to put up with that though!

SPLURGE - Elemis Pro-Radiance Cream Cleanser (£29 Time to Spa link)

This was actually the product that got me into the whole cream cleanser phase. Elemis sometimes do some great value sets where you can try multiple full size products for a reduced price so after watching this demonstrated on QVC UK several times and lusting after it, I ended up picking up the value set from Debenhams. I'm so glad I did this as my skin might have still been dry and flaky to this day! This is a thick cream-like consistency that feels the most luxurious of the three and it has a really fresh, herbal scent that I adore. I love massaging this one into my skin and breathing in the scent to help me relax at night. This is the most hydrating out of three cleansers and also still leaves my skin with a fresh, clean feeling. I honestly believe this cleanser is worth the money but even better if you can get it in a value set or a QVC UK TSV which is how I've purchased it several times since the first bottle. After a break away from this cleanser for a while, it feels really good to have it back in my collection as I almost forgot how good it is!

WISHLIST - Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel (£32.50 Cult Beauty link)

The next cleanser on my wishlist was the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel after seeing other bloggers raving about it. Notice I said was? Yep, I've already bought it! But I guess you may already know that if you've watched my Space.NK and Selfridges haul...

Montagne Jeunesse - Black Seaweed and Hot Spring Sauna Masques

I've mentioned Montagne Jeunesse many times on my blog before. They sell inexpensive yet extremely effective face masks in so many varieties with such fab ingredients, I love trying them all out! I was very kindly sent two of their new masks to try, they are the Black Seaweed Peel Off Masque* and the Hot Spring Sauna Masque, so it's now time for me to let you know my thoughts on them.

The Black Seaweed Peel Off Masque's main ingredients are Welsh Laver Seaweed and Sea Buckthorn Berries for detoxing the skin, clearing it of dirt and grease. It has a very fresh salty sea scent that reminds me of being at the coast. You spread an even layer of this black masque all over your face and leave it for around 15-20 mintues until it's dry. Then, as the name suggests, you carefully peel it off. I managed to peel this off all in one go and it didn't leave any product on my face so this is a relatively mess-free mask. When I peeled this off, I revealed lovely fresh looking, smooth feeling skin. It felt like any yucky dead skin cells had been removed and my skin felt soft. This didn't strip any moisture from my skin at all either.

The Hot Spring Sauna masque was a bright orange colour with Volcanic Spring Powder and Ginger. There is also Bamboo which provided exfoliating grains to this mask so on application you massage this gently into the skin to buff away dead skin cells. Also you apply this mask to damp skin which causes a warming effect when the mask mixes with the water. It's really relaxing and soothing. The feeling doesn't last for the full length of time you have the mask on but it's nice when you first apply it. You remove this mask by washing it off with water and you can instantly feel how smooth your skin is after the gentle exfoliation. I actually couldn't stop touching my skin after using this! This one also left my skin feeling really clean yet still moisturised.

I love that both of the masks left my skin feeling more refined and perfected. It actually meant I needed to use less moisturising products for about a week after use as the smoothing effect lasted and meant I could spread my moisturisers and serums over my face more easily and they sunk in a lot faster too as I was applying them to fresh, new skin.

Both of these masks are available for £1.00 each from the Montagne Jeunesse website. Total bargains!

Space.NK and Selfridges Haul

I've been placing some cheeky orders lately so I thought I'd share all of my purchases with you. This time I've done it in the form of a YouTube video! It's something I've been thinking about doing for a while now so I decided to bite the bullet and give it a go. After filming the same thing four times I decided to stick with the final version and publish it on YouTube! I have to say it was pretty scary but I've had some lovely comments so far so thanks very much for those, it means a lot.

I actually forgot to show you this amazing makeup bag that came with the Charlotte Tilbury 'The Uptown Girl' set so I thought I'd show it in this post. It's really roomy and I love the lipstick swatches and the rose gold 'CT'.

Also in case you want to see the full contents of my Space.NK goodie bag, here's all the wonderful products:

Fenwick Newcastle Beauty Week

Fenwick is one of my favourite places to shop in Newcastle. I'm in there pretty much every weekend actually! I'm always sneakily walking past the Michael Kors concession wanting to add a third bag to my collection. There's just so many different departments with so much choice, it's easy to spend hours in Fenwick! Anyway, the main reason I usually head to Fenwick is for their amazing beauty hall. They have so many fab brands under one roof. They stock lots of high end brands like Dior, Chanel, Tom Ford, Bobbi Brown, Estee Lauder, Lancome, Clarins, Benefit Cosmetics as well as having two MAC concessions. In fact, Fenwick is the only place to buy MAC in Newcastle.

Other highlights of the beauty hall include their huge fragrance section, L'Occitane, Kiehl's, Molten Brown, Topshop Makeup, Nails Inc, Jo Malone, Rituals, Neom, Melvita, REN, Bomb Cosmetics and so much more!

I think I could talk about Fenwick for hours but I must get on to the reason for this post! Fenwick Newcastle are holding a Beauty Week from Monday 12 May to Saturday 17 May to help you revive your makeup, skincrare and bodycare regimes for Spring. There will be lots of events going on in the beauty hall including daily live beauty demonstrations, makeup and skincare masterclasses, new product launches, luxury gift with purchase and visiting makeup artists.

To keep up to date with all of the goings on for Beauty Week and beyond, you can check out their Facebook page here and their Twitter page here. They also have an Instagram here.

Fenwick kindly gifted me a goody bag containing 7 of their favourite picks for Summer so I thought I'd show you what I got as you can see there is a wide range of different products available at Fenwick.

The Kiehl's Gently Exfoliating Body Scrub in Grapefruit is one of the nicest body scrubs I've ever tried. The scent is so fresh and fruity, brilliant for getting you in the mood for Summer! It contains the perfect amount of scrubbing particles to gently exfoliate the skin. It's also quite creamy which means your skin isn't left feeling stripped after use.

The Clarins Tonic Bath & Shower Concentrate is a real pleasure to use. It's a thick, luxurious gel that has a very invigorating scent. It feels so refreshing to use in the morning with it's mint and herbal scent that makes me take deep breaths as I want to breathe it all in! It also feels very moisturising on the skin.

I've tried the Rituals Foaming Shower Gels before and I really like them. A little bit goes a long way and it doubles up as a shaving foam! They are available in lots of different scents and this T'ai Chi one smells so refreshing with the White Lotus and Green Tea.

BONBON is a new fragrance by Viktor & Rolf and it's absolutely perfect for me! I'm a massive lover of sweet scents and this fits right into that category. Despite its sweet scent, it isn't a young, tacky scent, it's a sophisticated one with notes of caramel, mandarin with woody base notes of sandalwood and cedarwood. I would compare it to the Prada Candy perfumes which I also love. How cute is the bow shaped bottle too?!

The Molton Brown Orange & Bergamot Enriching Hand Lotion is so nice for the warmer months. It feels quite light yet it's still really nourishing on the skin. It has a nice delicate scent that isn't going to interfere with your perfume but it still smells so good if you happen to sniff your hands!

I've wanted an EOS Lip Balm for so long but they only seemed to be available in London so I had to make do with imitation versions but now they are being stocked in Fenwick Newcastle! Yay! This is such good news and I can't wait to see what other varieties they have. I've got the Pomegranate & Raspberry one and I love the fruity scent. I love the design of the packaging and it's great being able to swipe the balm straight on to the lips instead of having to dip your fingers into a pot which can be a bit gross if you are out and about with no facilities to wash your hands first!

The final, and very exciting product, is the Dior Addict It-Lash Mascara. This is a brand new mascara from Dior and it doesn't actually launch until May 28 so watch out for this one. I'm going to do a proper review on this one very soon but let's just say, it's good, real good!

Are you a fan of Fenwick's Beauty Hall? Let me know your favourite sections :)
I'd love to hear if you are planning to visit Beauty Week too.
Let me know if you buy anything nice!

April Favourites

Well this post is a bit late! I've had these photos on my laptop for 2 weeks so sorry it's taken so long to get this post typed up!

In April, I was loving adding a little colour to my lips. These three lipsticks all featured in my Spring Makeup Picks for Lips so check out that post if you fancy seeing some swatches. The Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in Juicy Papaya is a gorgeous peachy orange shade that looks glossy on the lips and is so easy to wear as you can apply it quite sheer or build up the colour for a brighter lip. The Clarins Joli Rouge Brillant Perfect Shine Sheer Lipstick in Coral Tulip has a similar buildable finish that is also shiny. I just love this orangey coral shade so much! I've also been loving MAC Lipstick in Pink Pearl Pop, a gorgeous mid toned pink. This is in the Cremesheen finish so it's actually quite similar to the others in that you can wear it sheer or build it up. It has a bit of shine too but not as much as the others.

While I'm on the topic of lips, I should mention the lip balm I've been loving. It's the Josie Maran Argan Lip Treatment which you may recognise from my first Sephora haul. How cute is the packaging?! It reminds me of a little genie lamp! The product itself is a pale creamy pink colour that looks like the rather expensive By Terry Baume de Rose and even the Dior Creme de Rose. I haven't tried either of those but I have lusted after them a lot! This leaves a juicy looking shine to the lips and a very sheer wash of colour that makes your lips look nice and healthy. I quite like the scent too. It's a bit like those sour apple Chewits but not too overpowering or anything! I wouldn't say it's quite as nourishing as the Nuxe Reve de Miel lipbalm but it's pretty good. I definitely like the finish of this one more.

I bought the Bobbi Brown Corrector in Extra Light Bisque last year on a mission to cover my dark circles. For some reason, this plus the Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit stayed in my drawers untouched until recently. I'm really glad I tried this properly though as it's really good at cancelling out the dark blue colour under and around my eyes before adding concealer. I thought this would be really cakey but it's not, it's fairly easy to warm with your finger and blend around the eye area.

Another product from my first Sephora haul is the Alterna Caviar CC Cream 10-in-1 Complete Correction Leave-In Hair Perfector. Wow long name eh?! I think I saw this on a blog or vlog a long time ago and heard good things so it's always been on my radar but I didn't buy it. I went for it on one of my crazy Sephora buying missions though and at first I didn't really think much of this. I didn't notice a difference in my hair and thought it was a bit pointless really. However, I persisted and I tried using a bit more product. Like originally I was using 2 or 3 pumps but then I started using about 5 or 6 pumps and I really noticed the difference. This makes my hair so smooth and it looks in much better condition when I use this. I love the added heat protection bonus too.

I bought the e.l.f. Stipple Brush whilst they had a 50% off code as I fancied trying it for cream blush. I think it does a great job at picking up the right amount of cream blush and it blends it perfectly for a natural finish on the cheeks. It's really soft and I haven't noticed any shedding so far. Looking at the brush you can see it's not as good quality as Real Techniques but I haven't noticed any problems so I'm happy.

Another makeup brush I've been loving is the Real Techniques Setting Brush. Whilst I've been trialling the Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit, I was using this brush for applying the powder under my eyes and it's the perfect size for getting into that area. It doesn't apply too much powder either so that's good too.

Some amazing products from my second Sephora haul are the Make Up For Ever HD Blushes in the shades 210 Cool Pink and 215 Flamingo Pink. I've been getting a lot of use out of these over the last month. I find them both to be really natural shades that give a nice pop of colour on the cheeks but don't look too over the top for daytime wear. They are really creamy and easy to blend. I love the finish on the cheeks too as they aren't really powdery or really dewy so it just looks natural. You can see swatches of these in my Spring Makeup Picks for Cheeks post.

Another cheek product I've been loving is the Soap & Glory Glow All Out Luminizing Radiance Face Powder. This is a beautiful peachy, glowy highlighter. This gives a radiant look rather than a glittery one and as my skin is so pale, I can get away with using this as a subtle blush if I want. I would imagine that it would suit most skintones as a natural looking highlighter though.

My final favourite is the Sleek i-Divine Eye Shadow Palette in Vintage Romance. I bought this ages ago but didn't get round to trying it until April. I'll be honest, I've only tried the shade Court in Cannes (third from top left) but I love it so much! It's the first time I've tried Sleek eyeshadow and it's fab. It's a gorgeous shimmery, cool bronze shade that suits my pale skin. This is really pigmented and has a buttery texture. I definitely need to try more of the shades in this palette when I'm feeling more brave and I've already bought another Sleek Eyeshadow palette which will probably be in my May favourites!

Hope you've enjoyed seeing what products I loved using in April.
