The Body Shop // New Product Releases and a Haul

The Body Shop have had a lot of amazing new launches recently. Last month I spoke about the event I went to in celebration of the new Wild Argan Oil range. Last week, I was kindly invited back to The Body Shop in Eldon Square, Newcastle to learn about their latest product launches.

This time around there are three exciting new products! The Drops of Youth Eye Concentrate, All-in-One InstaBlur Eye and the Colour Crush Nail Colours. I'll let you know a bit about those in this post but I'll have full reviews coming up shortly as I was given the full sized products to take home with me.

The Drops of Youth Eye Concentrate is like a rollerball serum containing Edelweiss plant stem cells for smoother looking eyes. This looks like the perfect partner to the existing Drops of Youth for the face. I was super tempted to buy that one when I was in store actually!

The All-in-One InstaBlur Eye looks fab as it's an all in one tinted concealer and primer to be used all around the eye. Jasmin, the makeup artist at the Eldon Square store demonstrated this product and showed that this makes any eyeshadow so much more intense. It's very impressive!

The Colour Crush Nail Colours are the final new release. There are 26 shades in this range that took several years to develop, to ensure The Body Shop could offer a 100% vegan nail polish. There are some stunning colours in the range and I was able to choose any colour I wanted, so I went with Deeply in Love as I thought the berry toned shade was perfect for the Autumn.

Whilst I was in store, Rebecca gave me a full skincare consultation, something I didn't realise The Body Shop offered. She asked questions about my current skincare routine and concerns to tailor a whole skincare routine to my needs. I loved her thorough product knowledge that allowed her to explain why each product would be beneficial to me. She also demonstrated each product on my hand and I was very impressed with the consultation. Rebecca filled in the skincare consultation leaflet with everything we had discussed and there was no pressure to buy any of the products there and then. I like how you can take the leaflet away and have a think about what you have discussed and what has been recommended.

I couldn't leave The Body Shop without a little haul though so I ended up buying four of the skincare products recommended to me in the consultation - Nutriganics Softening Cleansing Gel Oil, Vitamin E Overnight Serum-in-Oil, Vitamin E Aqua Boost Sorbet and the Warming Mineral Mask. I also picked up the Tea Tree Flawless BB Cream in Light as I admired this at the last event. It seems to be a really great match for my skintone whilst having quite good coverage.

I really enjoyed my trip to The Body Shop and I'm looking forward to trying all of my new products. Keep your eyes peeled for reviews of the new launches coming soon!

An early Christmas present for MEEE! // Benefit Cheeky Sweet Spot Gift Set

I know it's far too early to be mentioning Christmas but whilst I was browsing the beauty counters this weekend, I noticed Benefit had their Christmas gifts out. The box 'o powders are probably the product they are most famous for doing and I've had a few different ones over the years. Every Christmas they seem to bring out some sort of palette that has some of the blushes in and I always lust after them but I've never bought one before.

This year, they have the Cheeky Sweet Spot gift set and it contains SIX!! of their powders for only £29.50! Yes, they aren't full size but most of them are around 5g which is about half size but I think it's great that you get to try six for just over the price of one full sized one. They are a good size too, they seem like the full width of a full sized one so they are big enough for getting a brush into.

You get Dandelion, Bella Bamba, Sugarbomb, Hoola, Coralista and Rockateur. You even get a little pot of the Watt's Up highlighter. Basically, all looks are covered with this palette!

The packaging is super cute on this palette. I love the fact that it comes in a tin so the powders are well protected. You also get a little leaflet included in the box to give you some tips on how to use the products.

I'm so excited to get using this palette as I've only ever tried Hoola, Coralista and Watt's Up from this set.

I got my set from Boots but they don't seem to be on their website yet. They are also available at Debenhams and John Lewis.

What do you think of this palette?

NARS // A Makeup Look

I'm rather obsessed with NARS products lately and I've built up a fairly good collection over the last 10 months or so. You may already know this if you've been following me on Instagram though! ;) (I'm @suzyheartsbeauty on there by the way!)

One of my Instagram photos (@suzyheartsbeauty)

Since the above photo was taken, I ended up buying the And God Created The Woman palette as I had £10 of Space.NK Indulge Points to spend, yay! It has some stunning eyeshadows in it and the pigmentation and texture are amazing. Really smooth and buttery. There is a mixture of matte, shimmery and glittery shades, from light to dark. I already had one of the shades in my Kalahari Duo but it's such a beautiful cool toned bronzey-taupe shade, I don't mind having it twice! I wanted to try this palette out straight away yesterday so I decided to create a look using all NARS products. Apart from my mascara and brows where I don't own any NARS products in those categories.

I started off using the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in the shade Chantilly to cover my under eye circles. I love this concealer as it's great for all over the face. In fact, I went through a stage earlier this year where I did exactly that, rather than use a foundation! It's a really high coverage concealer that doesn't dry out the skin or look cakey. They have a very good shade range too. My third tube of this is waiting to be used so you know I love something when it's been repurchased!

I then used the NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in Siberia, their lightest shade. I wanted this for so long but I'm glad I finally bought it a few months ago. It's a great match for my skintone, it's a good medium to full coverage foundation that has a semi-matte finish. It's not a dewy foundation as you would expect from the name but I find it makes my skin look radiant and healthy, not flat and dry. It's brilliant at covering redness and blemishes. Please ignore the massive spot on my chin though, no foundation or concealer is going to cover that 3D monster!

On the eyes I started with Kalahari (top middle) all over the lid then blended Bellissima (top left) into the crease. I then used Galapagos (bottom middle) against the top and bottom outer lash line.

The NARS Deep Throat Blush is a stunning peachy pink with a slight shimmer. It creates a glowy look on the cheeks without looking glittery. It's really pigmented and creates a wonderful pop of colour on the cheeks. I think this, in combination with the foundation, makes your skin look healthy and youthful. I love it!

I decided to finish the look with NARS Lipgloss in Orgasm, a shimmery peachy pink with gold glitter. This isn't super pigmented but it does put a nice wash of colour on the lips and looks pretty. I didn't want a bold lip for this look. It's a smooth lipgloss with a balm texture that isn't sticky at all.

So that's my look! Hope you like it :) I really need to feature more of my NARS products so watch out for some more makeup looks coming soon!

My first ever Jo Malone purchases

Jo Malone is a brand I've seen on blogs quite a lot but I'd only admired from afar. To me, the brand is all about their candles and colognes. They do some other body and home products but I would say the candles and colognes are the signature products.

The product I had lusted after most was the Sweet Almond & Macaroon Candle. I'm a massive lover of sweet scents and any mention of macaroons is a winner!

I recently decided to step into the Jo Malone concession within Fenwick Newcastle and had a little browse. I don't think I could find a Sweet Almond & Macaroon candle to sniff so just spent some time looking at the colognes. It was then I discovered an amazing one. The Blue Agava & Cacao Cologne. One I'd never heard mentioned on blogs before. On that visit, I decided it was quite expensive so headed out of the store but I kept the thoughts of this scent in my head.

At the weekend, on my usual trip to town, I went to Boots, Debenhams, Space.NK, Superdrug and left empty handed. When this happens, it usually results in a crazy, impulse splurge to satisfy the shopaholic in me. So, whilst looking around the Fenwick beauty hall, I set my sights on Jo Malone and bought both of the items on my wishlist!

The candle is gorgeous. Just how I wanted it to be! Sweet, nutty, vanilla-ry, baked goods deliciousness in a candle. It's so pretty, I almost don't want to burn it! You also get some posh long candles to light it with!

The cologne is sooo nice too. I sprayed some on in the store, one spray, and it lasted ALL day! Even with washing my hands several times! This one is a grown up, sweet scent with notes of lime, blue agava flower and cacao. I'm really surprised I haven't seen this one on blogs before!

I also just wanted to mention the presentation. I love the box that you get your products presented in. It really tops off this luxury treat nicely. I'd love to receive this as a gift from someone! After placing the box in the bag, they even spray some tissue paper with a cologne and put that in the bag so it smells beautiful when you unwrap everything. Great attention to detail!

My Bronzer Collection

For someone who was a little afraid of bronzer, I sure have gone a bit crazy purchasing bronzers lately! I always thought they were too dark, too orange or too over the top for my really pale skin but I've been experimenting lately and found that I can wear bronzer! Yay!

NARS Laguna Bronzer - So many bloggers rave about this bronzer but I always assumed it would never work on my skintone as it's quite a dark one. When you swipe a finger or a brush into the bronzer, it doesn't pick up too much product so it doesn't actually put a dark brown stripe on my cheek!
It looks quite shimmery in the pan but this never translates on to my skin. I find this gives a natural, non orange bronzed look that's great for contouring. I've got a post where I've used it for a subtle contour here.

L'Oreal Paris Glam Bronze in Blond Sun* - This bronzer comes in a few shades so it's great that you can pick one suited to your skintone. This one is a light, matte bronzer that has a slight yellow tint. This one is very smooth and easy to blend. It also looks natural on my skin which you can see in this post.

The Body Shop Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder in Light Matte - This purchase had been on the cards for a long time after seeing how great it is on fairer skinned beauties like Katie. I picked it up when I was kindly given discount at an event at The Body Shop and I'm so glad I did. I love the packaging on this one! The honeycomb effect on the top of the compact and on the powder is fab! This light, matte powder suits my skintone very well. This bronzer leans more on the tan side compared with the L'Oreal one so I definitely prefer this one. I'm wearing the bronzer in this post if you want to see it on me.

Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Bronzer in Ready To Go* - This bronzer is amazing if you fancy a bronzed look with a glow. It has a really beautiful, natural sheen to it that doesn't look glittery. You can get this in a range of shades too so there will be one to suit your skintone.

Urban Decay Naked Flushed Palette in Streak - This is one of the cutest palettes I own! I love the sturdy bronzed plastic packaging with the gold lettering. The light, cool toned bronzer gives subtle glow and I love the beautiful champagne highlight and peachy pink blush you get with this too. There are three other palettes that have deeper bronze and blush shades so definitely check those out as they are stunning!

Maybelline Dream Sun Bronzing Powder in Golden Tropics - I picked this up in store without swatching it as I really liked the look of it. Unfortunately it's really hard to get any colour pay off with this. You can spend ages rubbing your finger into the powder and hardly any comes off. What does come off feels a little chalky too! If you want a very subtle, barely there look then perhaps this is the one for you but it's just not for me.

e.l.f. Contouring Blush & Bronzer in St Lucia - I wanted this for a long time as it's known as a bit of a dupe for the NARS Orgasm and Laguna duo. I love the blush part of this duo but I find the bronzer very heavy and dark. I suppose with some effort you could apply this with a very light hand and do a lot of blending but I would say this one is more suited to a darker skintone than mine.

Guest post on Expat Make-Up Addict

Just a quick post to let you know that I've guest posted over on Stacey's blog today if you fancy reading more about these lovely skincare products! Click here to read about my 'Latest Skincare Loves'.

Antipodes Aura Manuka Honey Mask

Antipodes is brand I've wanted to try products from for so long now so I was delighted when sparketail got in touch about trying something from one of their websites - ethicalsuperstore.com. There is some great vegan, cruelty free, paraben free and fair trade makeup and skincare so it's a great one to check out if you are in search of those. Since they have a great range of Antipodes on there, I decided to go for my most lusted after product from them, the Aura Manuka Honey Mask*.

I have dehydrated skin that also gets quite blemished around the chin area so it can be hard to find a mask that tackles both of these issues in one go! That's where this beauty comes in though! This product contains Manuka Honey, which has natural antibacterial properties yet also draws moisture to the skin. The ruby red Pohutukawa Bloom in this contains one of nature's finest antioxidants. It also contains nutrient rich avocado oil and is fragranced with vanilla and mandarin. Sounds good already, right?

This is a creamy mask that you apply to your face and neck for 15 minutes. What I really like about this mask is the soothing fresh scent and it feels really comfortable on the skin. It just feels like you have a thick layer of moisturiser on, rather than the kind of mask that dries making your face feel tight. You just rinse this one off with warm water and I like to use a damp face cloth too. This leaves the skin feeling so hydrated and soft. I also notice the next day that any of those really sore, under the skin spots have gone and taken the pain with them. It doesn't clear up every single spot I have but it really improves things after one application so just keep using this when you need to and it will really work wonders without drying your skin out.

You can also use this to treat spots and blemishes on their own, without applying the product to your full face. That's a good method to use if you don't like the usual spot treatments you can buy that really dry out the skin making it flaky and hard to apply makeup around that area afterwards!

I really like the packaging of this one too, it's really simple but I love it. The metal tubes are great for getting every last drop of a product out and it means you are always getting a fresh application rather than dipping your fingers into a pot.

Now that I've tried this product, I'm desperate to try more from Antipodes. I'm getting towards the end of my current eye cream so I think I might try the Kiwi Seed Oil Eye Cream and I've always liked the look of the Vanilla Pod Hydrating Day Cream and the Avocado Pear Night Cream.

Lush Newcastle // Reopening Event

I have to say, this was an exciting week for me! First of all I had a VIP experience at The Saturdays concert (post here) then I was able to attend an amazing evening at the relaunch of the Lush store in Newcastle. I must start by saying a huge thanks to the lovely Anna for getting me an invite to this event! Also thanks to Lush Newcastle for letting me attend.

We were greeted with drinks and beautiful cupcakes on arrival. As you can probably tell, the cupcakes were inspired by some of Lush's products and I would have loved to sample all of them but I stopped myself and just stuck to the delicious chocolate one with gold dusting. Mmmm!

The refurbished store looks absolutely incredible. It seems so much more spacious than before and it seems like they have more products on display. I love the layout of the store, it makes you want to look at everything! They have even used lots of reclaimed wood in their stores which very much fits in with the ethics of the company.

All of the staff were so excited about their new store and that was so lovely to witness. The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable about the products, it's such a pleasure being in the store and listening about the products. The great thing is that they love to demonstrate the products too to prove how good they are. Whether that's applying products to your hand/arm making you feel very pampered or popping one of their bath bombs into water so you can see its effects, feel how softening the water is and smell the delightful aromas.

A lot of people go to Lush for their soap and bath bombs but they really have so much more than just those. They have an extensive skincare range and they will help you come up with a whole skincare routine based on your needs. They also have a fab range of fragrances and it was so interesting hearing all of the stories that inspired each one. Honestly, you need to go in-store and ask about these! There's also lots of haircare, bodycare and more to check out.

There's plenty for men in there too so don't think this place is just for girls! A lot of the products are unisex anyway but did you know you could get a facial wash for beards?! Me neither!

Whilst we were speaking to the staff, a fresh batch of Angels on Bare Skin was being made and we were all presented with a pot each to try so that was super nice. I actually got this tried on my skin while I was there and my hand was soooo soft and the skin looked much brighter and lovely. I also received a goody bag when I left which was filled with lots of lovely goodies to try. I'll be writing about those soon!

If you live in or near Newcastle you totally need to check out the refurbished store and speak to all of the lovely staff!
