A few Christmas goodies from The Body Shop

As part of my trip to The Body Shop in Eldon Square, Newcastle upon Tyne to check out all of the wonderful Christmas products (post here), I was given some goodies to test out.

First up, from the new Glazed Apple range, is a lip balm*. I love the cute tin packaging of the lip balm and it smells amazing too. Like sweets! It's a really moisturising balm that leaves the lips feeling so smooth. Don't worry, it doesn't tint your lips green! You get loads of product for only £4.

I love The Body Shop hand creams as they have so many nice scents and I love the style of the tube. The Frosted Cranberry Hand Cream* is light in texture so it sinks in fast and doesn't leave a greasy feeling on the skin. It leaves your hands feeling soft and nourished. This also smells like sweets, just different sweets haha. It's really nice and I can't help but think the scent reminds me of something but I can't think what!

The Sparkler comes in all three Christmas scents (as do the other products in this post) - Glazed Apple, Vanilla Brulee and Frosted Cranberry. They look like vintage fine fragrance bottles and would look really nice on your dressing table. I have the Glazed Apple version of The Sparkler* and it's a really nice product. It's not something I would have bought for myself so I'm really glad I got to try it. Basically when you spritz it, it dispenses a really fine shimmer to the skin and hair. The Glazed Apple one seems to dispense subtle green and pink toned shimmer that catches the light beautifully, leaving a gorgeous iridescence to the skin. It also leaves behind a light Glazed Apple fragrance too.

This isn't like those tacky glitter roll ons you used to get back in the day! It's a grown up version that will be amazing for Christmas parties. I find it leaves the skin feeling really soft and you don't feel any of the shimmer particles. I thought it would be scratchy but it's so finely milled. I'm pretty disappointed that I couldn't get a good photo of the shimmer on my skin to demonstrate how beautiful it truly is. You totally need to get yourself to your nearest store to try it for yourselves!

Check out my other post to get an idea of all the pretty gifts available at The Body Shop this Christmas.

November Beauty Purchases

As you may have read in a previous blog post, I'm trying not to buy too many beauty products at the moment as I need to save money and I've also needed to buy some clothes as I've dropped a few dress sizes this year. At the beginning of November, once I'd been paid, I allowed myself a little bit of beauty shopping so I thought I'd show you what I bought.

I think my most exciting purchase was the Makeup Revolution Ultimate Eyeshadow Collection. My local Superdrug doesn't stock Makeup Revolution but they have got some of the Christmas gift sets in so I jumped at the chance to buy this amazing palette for only £10 while it was on offer. I've been so impressed with all of the eyeshadow palettes I've tried by Makeup Revolution so I know this will be amazing too. I reckon this palette contains every possible colour you would ever need! Obviously that won't stop me buying more though!

I hadn't bought anything from MUA for a while so when I spotted the new Elysium palette with it's rose gold tones I thought it looked like a good buy for £6. It's good that you get a duo eyeliner in there too.

Superdrug had a little promo stand with Zoella, Tanya Burr and Ruth Crilly's products on so I grabbed a tin of Ruth's Co Lab Dry Shampoo in the New York fragrance to try out. I've heard lots of good things about this being one of the best dry shampoos on the market and that it's invisible. I have to admit that I've tried it once and had so many white bits in my hair and brush it looked like I had dandruff. I definitely need to try this again though. Perhaps I sprayed it too close to my head!

My final purchases from Superdrug were some Models Own Diamond Luxe nail polishes. I've lusted after these shimmery polishes for a few months now so decided to buy two of them. I went for the super girly, barbie pink one called Radiant Pink and the plummy Autumnal shade called Oval Plum. They both look stunning so I'm looking forward to trying them on my nails.

In Boots, I spotted these amazing new Glitterati polishes by Barry M in the shades (Left to Right) Socialite, Starlet and VIP. I really like the multi tonal effect in these polishes and I think they will be fab for Christmas parties in December.

I needed some shower gels and spotted the Original Source Skin Quench shower gels on offer so I decided to pick up a few of these. I'd tried one before and really liked how moisturising it felt so this time I went for the Watermelon & Jojoba Oil and the Blackcurrant & Moringa Oil. Both of these are really enjoyable to use as the consistency isn't too thin so it doesn't get washed straight off the skin. They leave the skin feeling nice and hydrated and they smell amazing too.

The November/December 2014 edition of the Boots Health & Beauty magazine was on the shelves so I picked this up too. I love that you get this magazine for free as an Advantage Card holder. There are always lots of brilliant health and beauty features, ideas for spending your advantage points and vouchers at the back to gain even more points with your purchases!

So I think you'll agree this was quite a restrained shopping trip for me! I am really happy with my purchases and I'm glad I didn't spend too much money :)

Have you bought anything nice this month?

The Body Shop - Christmas 2014

Christmas 2014 is very exciting at The Body Shop! The Eldon Square store in Newcastle upon Tyne very kindly invited me to take a look at all of the Christmas ranges and there was so much to look at. They have so many pretty gifts along with three full ranges of Christmassy scented products - Frosted Cranberry, Vanilla Brulee and brand new for 2014, Glazed Apple.

I thought the store was set out very nicely for Christmas with it's simple tree and reindeer decorations at the top of the shelves that lets all of the gifts do the main talking! So much thought has gone into all of the packaging of the gifts and they are all stunning. I would be very happy to see any (or all!) of these gifts under the tree this year ;) I especially like the silver apple set containing some products from the Glazed Apple range, which by the way, smells so good! A bit like Apple Sours in fact! I also love the musical box and the massive advent calendar. How cute are the little polar bear and penguin sponges and gift sets too?!

I mentioned the Frosted Cranberry, Vanilla Brulee and Glazed Apple ranges and these all have a wide range of the usual products by The Body Shop like shower gels, lip balms, hand cream, body butter, eau de toilette, etc but they also have brought out bath sprinkles, bath jelly and sparklers so you really can enjoy the full experience with these scents!

As well as all of the bath and body goodies, there are also some new makeup items. There are two pastel toned eyeshadow palettes. The Frosted Pastels Eyeshadow Palette is cool toned and has the most gorgeous blue shade in there. The Dolly Pastels Eyeshadow Palette is warm toned and has pretty pink and purple shades. The Lip & Cheek Stain has been given some special doll themed packaging and would look very cute on your dressing table!

So, there's lots to keep you occupied on your next trip to The Body Shop I reckon! You will find some absolutely amazing presents there so don't forget to head there when you're doing your Christmas shopping.

Keep an eye out on my blog over the weekend as I have a few Christmassy bits from The Body Shop to review!

Have you visited The Body Shop this year yet?

October Primark Haul

I mentioned in my last haul post that I was trying to stop buying as many beauty products so I quite enjoyed a look around Primark and picking up a few bits and pieces. By the way, I put 'October' in the title because there is now going to be a November one too!

I'm not really a scarf person but I saw this on Instagram and fancied it ever since. I really like the blue tartan print and the dogstooth on the reverse. I think it looks really classic and smart. It's quite long and wide so you get quite a lot for your £6. I also think it feels really nice quality.

Primark have all of their Christmas gifts and decorations in store now so when I saw this cute pug mug in the gift section it had to be mine. It's nice and big and I'm sure it will hold many a hot chocolate over the next few months! It was only £1.50.

I don't really send many Christmas cards so when I saw this pack of 12 simple but nice red and silver (not black as it looks in the photo!) cards, I thought it seemed like a good deal for £1.

How cute are these tealight holders?! I can't wait to put these on display in December! They were a bargain at £1.50 each. I think they had one or two other designs as well.

I bought a similar statement necklace earlier this year but when I saw this lovely jewel toned one I thought it would be beautiful for the winter. I love the rich colours.

Finally I picked up this gold glitter/sequin iPhone cover. I thought it would go well with my white and gold phone and it will be good for the festive season.

I thoroughly enjoyed this little trip to Primark!
Have you bought much from Primark lately?

Lush - Angels on Bare Skin

At a recent Lush event in Newcastle, I was given a pot of the Angels on Bare Skin* cleanser. When you open the pot and take a look at the product, you wouldn't think this was a cleanser, more an exfoliator due to its grainy texture.

This is a vegan cleanser, made from 100% natural ingredients including ground almonds for exfoliating, toning and brightening, kaolin to absorb grease and remove dirt, lavender oil and rose absolute to calm the skin.

When you lift the lid off the pot, the aroma that fills the air is beautiful. It's a really calming lavender scent. To use the cleanser, you take a little bit of the product and place it into the palm of your hand. Then add a little water and use your fingers to mix together into a milky paste. You then gently massage this into the skin before rinsing off.

Despite the seemingly rough texture, it's actually quite gentle on the face and doesn't leave the skin tender or red. It leaves the skin feeling smooth and renewed. It cleans well but doesn't strip the skin of moisture. It also helps improve the brightness of the skin too. I've also noticed that it helps calm spots down.

If you fancy trying this, you should have it demonstrated in store on your hand as you will be amazed at how soft it makes your skin feel and how bright it makes the skin look.

The cleanser costs £6.50 for 100g which I think is very reasonable for all of the amazing natural ingredients you are getting in the product.

Have you tried any cleansers from Lush?
